Hi, I’m Terri. Grab a drink and settle in!
How this works: I write about the good things I find. Half of you who come here decide it’s not for you, and move on. (Peace and blessings.) The other half of you decide Yes, that is a good thing indeed, can I have some more, please. I oblige. You come back, perhaps bring a friend. We share a few laughs. Trade tips. Start finishing each other’s sentences. And now we’ve got ourselves a tribe.
The end of Meh.
I’m sure you’re wondering about the name. Is this a minimalist site? No. Not on purpose, anyway. I like things. And I would rather focus on fewer, better things than more, mediocre things. In every area of my life. I see it as part of my mission to help you tap into that, as well. Because we all have to win.
Food: it’s a big deal
You may notice there’s a lot of food on this site. That’s because I eat several times a day. So, math. What you won’t find are a lot of food rules. I’ll eat a kale salad and beer-battered onion rings in the same forkful without blinking.
It wasn’t always this way.
I’m a former everything. Former vegan. Former vegetarian. Former raw foodist. I survived Dick Gregory’s Bahamian Diet and the food combining craze in the 80s. Currently flirting with Paleo, but we’re not in an exclusive relationship so I cheat on it all the time. And I’m not sorry. My plant-based roots run strong but once I discovered that I could enjoy a balanced state of good health with a moderate approach – eating what I ought to 80% of the time, eating what I want to 20% of the time, and moving as much as possible – I abandoned perfection and just started focusing on foods I love.
When I’m not eating, I’m in a constant state of discovery about what else that’s good. (Check out the Shop page for a convenient roundup of my favorite things.) That can also be a person, place or idea. Wellness. Fashion. Travel. Media. Technology. Business. As with my life, anything could show up here. If posts are slow coming, it’s because I’m out here living my life. Same as you.
Not to worry. Like old friends, when we reconnect it will be just as good. And I’ll have even more to share.
Speaking of good…
We won’t always agree on what’s good or relevant, but nobody freaks out because any member of this tribe knows that they are free to take whatever they can use and discard the rest, or else opt out completely. I don’t have all the answers, and mistakes may happen. But we’ll discover a lot of useful things on this journey, and hopefully a decent time will be had by all.
